There are a lot of questions relating to dead iPod Shuffles that won't charge, but mine isn't dead, it is working fine (for now), but I can't charge it. I plug it in, tried numerous USB ports, but the yellow charging light never comes on.a

If it's currently working, recognized by iTunes, and playing songs, does that same LED light come ON when you move the power switch from OFF to ON (with iPod disconnected)? It should come ON (briefly) to show you the current battery charge level.

It's the iPod shuffle 4th generation - probably the one introduced Late 2012. It doesn't register with iTunes either. It's as though the jack-to-USB cable isn't connecting to the pins properly. It works OK with headphones, but just can't synch or charge it. Yes, if not connected to anything, when you slide the power switch on, the green light comes on for a second or two.
If it's not charging, the battery will soon go dead. Surprising that the light still comes ON as green (which means it has a strong charge), when you turn ON the shuffle.
It's possible the USB docking cable is faulty. Make sure the plug on docking cable is fully inserted into the shuffle's headphones jack. It should click into place.
Are you using the very short USB docking cable that came with your shuffle? Some third-party replacement cables look similar, but are made for the older 2nd gen shuffle and do not work with 4th gen shuffle.
If you have a USB power adapter (plugs into a power outlet) from an iPhone or other device, connect the docking cable to it and connect your shuffle there. Does it charge when connected to a USB power adapter?
